UPDATE: Two people sustain ‘non-life threatening injuries’ in N5 collision



UPDATE: 2:30pm

Two people have been taken to hospital following a collision between two cars on the N5 just outside of Ballaghaderreen.

Gardai say one car lost control and drove into the other due to icy conditions.

The two people brought to Castlebar Hospital are understood to have non-life threatening injuries.

The road is expected to be reopened soon.

 

12:50pm:

What emergency services are describing as ‘a serious traffic accident’ has occurred on the Charlestown to Ballaghaderreen road.

The road is closed at present and diversions are in place along the old N5.

It’s understood two vehicles have been involved in the accident, which happened near Ballaghaderreen.

The air ambulance is on route to the scene.
