Busy Christmas Day afternoon in hospitals’ labour wards

It was a busy Christmas Day afternoon yesterday in the labour wards of the region’s two main hospitals.

In Sligo University Hospital, two babies, a boy and girl, made their joyous arrivals.

Louise and Brian O’Connor from Cliffoney welcomed baby Oisin Thomas, weighing nine pounds and five ounces.

And for Charlene and Micheal Jones, from Rathglass, Enniscrone, there was the Christmas Day birth of Anna Gabriel, who came in at six pounds eight ounces.

In Letterkenny University Hospital, four babies, all girls, were born in the afternoon.

The first arrived before 2pm, the second just after 3pm, the next about 40 minutes later and the last just after 6pm.

All are said to be doing well.
