Sligo was close to getting one of the biggest bands in the world to perform at Markievicz Park next year.
Negotiations were at an advanced stage with a concert promoter, but a change of touring plans by the band meant the plans fell through. The band cannot be named for legal reasons.
However the treasurer of Sligo GAA says the plans and structures are now in place to host a concert in conjunction with the promoter at the venue in the coming years.
Sligo County Board treasurer Peter Greene says that he is disappointed that the planned concert did not work out, but he’s hopeful of hosting a similar event in the near future…
