The Irish question must stay at the forefront of the Brexit negotiations at all times.

That’s the warning from the Sinn Fein North West MEP Matt Carthy.

The UK’s chief Brexit negotiator David Davis said caused confusion during an interview at the weekend when he seemed to suggest that the recently agreed deal on maintaining a soft border was more a statement of intent than legally binding.

Mr Davis later accused the media of twisting his comments.

MEPS will debate the Brexit deal tomorrow in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
