Updated: N17 reopened at Tubbercurry following three-car collision



UPDATE 6.30PM THURSDAY

The section of the N17 Sligo-Galway road which had been closed at Tubbertelly, Tubbercuury has now been re-opened to traffic.

Sligo County Council  and the Gardai have confirmed the road is now open to traffic.

It’s understoon there were no serious injuries but the truck was blocking the road following the crash.

Update: 5pm

Motorists are urged to slow down on the N17 at Tubbercurry following a three car crash between, a truck, jeep and car.

The road is closed at Tubbertelly on the Sligo side of Tubbercurry and diversions are in place via Ballymote.

Emergency services are at the scene.

Drivers are asked to take care in the area.

17:00: Sligo County Council has released the following diversion information: 

As a result of a road traffic accident at Tubbertelly crossroads the N17 is closed from Tubbercurry to the junction of the N17 / R293 known locally as Clarkes Bridge.

Diversion in operation, motorists are advised to proceed with caution due to the current weather conditions.

 Diversion as follows – Galway bound traffic will leave the N17 and travel via the R293 to Ballymote, R296 Bunnanddan and  the R294 rejoin the N17 at Tubbercurry.

Sligo bound traffic  will leave the N17 at Tubbercurry, travelling via the R294 / R296 to Ballymote and via the R293 to rejoin the N17 at the junction of the R293 / N17 at Clarkes bridge.
