Rising drink driving detections the focus of major cross-border campaign



A Donegal Inspector says this year’s cross-border drink driving campaign will be the most significant in years in light of an increasing number of detections both North and South of the border.

The annual drink driving campaign has been launched in north Donegal today with An Gardai Siochana and the PSNI warning that it see both forces cooperate on ‘unprecedented levels’.

It was co-ordinated by Letterkenny-based Garda Inspector Michael Harrison on the An Garda Siochana side.

Inspector Harrison says they are worried about the increase in detection rates for drink driving and he warns that drug-testing will also be taking place as part of the initiative.
