Four Sligo-Leitrim teams advance in Connacht Junior Cup



Sligo Southern Hotel Super League On a Cold windy Night in Strandhill Strand Celtic retained Top Spot with a Three Nil Victory Over Arrow Harps. The Game sprung to Life in in the 50th Min when Lee Marshall Finished to the Net following a cross from Callum Burns. Their Lead was doubled when Ryan Lynch punished some poor defending in the Arrow Harps box. Lee Marshall scored his second on the 75th Minute to seal A victory for Strand. Carbury Fc Maintained their winning record with a convincing win over Ballisodare Utd Four Goals in Each Half   with two from Gareth Kelly  and one each from Mark Mc Goldrick, Ibrahim Savage, Aaron Murrin Ross Mc Loughlin , Gary Finan and Chris Kelly was enough to see off the Visitors  Ballygawley Travelled to Aughanagh for their game this morning and it was Aughanagh who took the three points here .The sides were level at half time Seamus Keane sored twice in the second Half and Thomas Cryan making it three St Johns and Manor Rangers enjoyed  a close encounter with the Visitors going One up after 7 mins with a strike from Seamus Ryder. This was cancelled out twenty Minutes later with an Equalising Header from Robbie Fahy. Two Goals in the second half From Niall Walsh put Manor Ahead . Conor Brennan got one back for St Johns in the 85th Minute . They did have a change in the closing stages to level the game but didnt finish them .and Manor Rangers took the three points. Ballymote had to concede Home advantage and travelled to Calry . Goals in the second half from Calrys Paul Logan in the 52nd Minute and Michael Flynn in the 59th minute was enough to give calry the three points today. Striker Mark Irwin was on Target again pulling one back for Ballymote.

Connacht Junior Cup 1st Round  

Cartron united advanced to the next round of the Connacht Junior Cup with a win over Local Rivals Coolaney United. And it was Coolaney who opened the scoring midway through the First with a .goal from Joe Kilcullen. Their lead was cancelled out shortly before Half Time when In Form Striker Kevin Buckley Equalised. In the second Half Coolaney took the lead with a goal from Jimmy fields. Abdul equalised again for Cartron  and with ten Minutes remaining Kevin Buckley got his Second and Cartron Utd’s winner in a closely fought Game  Glenview Stars also  went through to the next round with a 3-1 Victory over Mayo Side Ballyglass FC. Goals from Aaron Kelly and Scott Mc Garry put Glenview two up and Felim Prendergast pulled one back for the Visitors. Keith Carty secured Victory for Glenview with his Strike .  Merville Travelled to take on Conn Rangers Fc and secured their place in the Next round with Two Goals Scored in the First Half by Ryan Mc Manus. MCR had to wait until extra time to move in to the next Round They went a goal behind early on in  the game . Gary Mc Cartney Equalised for MCR with Five minutes remaining. The game ended up level at Full time and extra time was played .and it was Stephen Hallihan  who provided the winner for MCR. Benbulben FC travelled to take on Oughterard FC but unfortunately for the Sligo Leitrim Side their Connacht Cup journey ended when they  lost by four Goals to one.
