Listen: Minister for Justice says new Garda Station for Sligo is a priority

The Minister for Justice says that getting a new Garda Station for Sligo is a priority for him.

Minister Charlie Flanagan was taken on a tour of the station this evening by the new Chief Superintendent Aidan Glackin and Superintendent Mary Murray.

The station has been in the headlines in the past week after rank and file Gardai walked out due to unsafe working conditions at the Pearse road station.

However, they were ordered to return to the station earlier this week.

He spoke exclusively to Ocean FM reporter Barry Whyte at the station this evening:

Minister Charlie Flanagan is in Sligo this evening where he has met with management at Sligo Garda Station.

The station has been in the headlines in the past week after rank and file Gardai walked out due to unsafe working conditions at the Pearse road station.

However, they were ordered to return to the station earlier this week.

Minister Flanagan arrived at the station just before four o’clock and is then due to attend the Civic Reception being held as part of the end of Sligo’s Year of Volunteering in City Hall.
