Gardai warn of ‘jammer’ device being used to break into cars



Gardai are warning people to be aware of a device called a ‘jammer’ which thieves are using to break into cars.

Gardai in Donegal say it has become a problem in the county and across the border in the North recently.

The device intercepts your car key when you press the button as you walk away from the car.

Donegal sergeant Paul Wallace is warning shoppers to be aware of this device as we head into the busy Christmas shopping period:

He’s also urging motorists to be responsible on the roads this Christmas.

Sergeant Wallace says extra checkpoints will be in place and he’s making a particular appeal in relation to drinking and driving:
