NW Fine Gael Conventions put back until the New Year

Selection conventions for the North West are likely to take place in February or March after a snap election was avoided this week.

Regional organisers were on standby to organise a last minute convention tonight in Sligo Leitrim if needed.

Now the party will wait until the legislation to change the constituency boundaries passes early in the New Year.

It could be February or March before the conventions which decide who will run for the party in each constituency will take place
