Planning permission for new Donegal Town cinema turned down

A planning application for a new cinema in Co Donegal has been turned down.

The five-screen cinema was due to be built in Donegal Town.

An application was lodged earlier this year with with Donegal County Council for a major new development at Drumlonagher in Donegal Town.

The state-of-the-art cinema, proposed for the outskirts of the town, would have been able to seat 714 cinema goers.

The development also contained parking spaces for almost 160 cars as well as a petrol station, shop and a restaurant.

However the application for the development has now been turned down over fears for increased traffic volume in the area.

It is understood the developers may resubmit upgraded plans.
