Mona McSharry to switch on Sligo Christmas lights

World junior champion Mona McSharry will turn on the Christmas lights in Sligo this weekend.

Ahead of travelling to Denmark for the European Short Course Championship in December, the Grange youngster will launch the festive season on Saturday at 5.30pm.

The 17-year-old is the reigning World and European Junior gold medalist in the 100 metres breaststroke, and in total, claimed five medals across the championships this summer.

She recently set new Irish senior records for both the 100 metres and 50 metres in Amsterdam, and will lead the Irish team of ten to the European Short Course Championships in Copenhagen from December 13-17.
