A North West/Midlands MEP is warning people to always be on the alert for credit card scammers.
Marian Harkin is making the appeal after one of her friends was almost the victim of such a scam.
The friend received a call from a man with a Dublin accent pretending to be from a courier company.
He said there was a parcel awaiting collection at Dublin Airport and credit card details were needed in order to have the item delivered or else it would be returned.
Marian Harkin says the incident proved to her that anyone can become a victim.
