Government providing as much as support as possible to curb rural crime – Justice Minister



The Minister for Justice says deploying Garda resources is the responsibility of the Garda Commissioner.

Charlie Flanagan was speaking during a discussion on Rural Crime in the Dail last night.

The issue was raised by Cavan Monaghan TD Niamh Smyth and Offaly TD Carol Nolan following spates of burglaries and an attack on a farmer in their respective areas.

Earlier this week, the Garda Representative Association raised concerns that many crimes in Donegal are going undetected due to the decline in Garda numbers and resources.
