Letterkenny Hospital surgeon says overcrowding situation is disastarous



An orthopaedic surgeon in Letterkenny has described the situation at the hospital this week as ‘disasterous’.

Letterkenny University Hospital has been one of the worst affected around the country in terms of the numbers of patients waiting for admission.

Yesterday there were 37 people waiting on trolleys – the numbers are down to 23 today.

Peter O’Rourke says elective surgeries continues to be cancelled at the hospital.

He says it is now not just a winter problem but an all-year-round problem:
