Rosses Point white cross and poppy wreaths vandalised



The white cross at Rosses Point where two poppy wreaths were placed, has been vandalised.

Two poppy wreaths were placed at the cross ahead of Remberance Day which is next Saturday the 11th of November.

The laying of the wreaths caused mixed reaction on yesterdays North West Today, which you can listen to here

In Britain, paper poppies are worn to remember the people of their armed forces who have died, however, it is seen as controversial in Ireland by some.

Gardaí have been informed of the incident and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at Rosses Point Garda Station or Sligo Garda Station.
