Gardaí say injuries happen every year due to fireworks

With Halloween just around the corner, Gardaí say that injuries happen every year due to fireworks.

Fireworks are a hot issue each year with some instances of injury and damage to property including this month where a firework was thrown at a young child in Sligo Town.

Purchasing and owning them is illegal in Ireland with maximum sentences of upto €10,000 and upto 5 years in prison.

Sergeant Paul Wallace, The Divisional Crime Prevention and Community Relations Officer based in Letterkenny says that people have had life changing injuries in the past due to fireworks.
