Two men continue to be detained at Ballymote Garda Station



Two men arrested following a robbery at a pharmacy in Sligo town yesterday continue to be held at Ballymote Garda Station this morning (Wed).

The incident occurred when a man entered the pharmacy on the Cranmore Road, armed with what’s believed to have been a firearm.

He threatened staff before escaping with a quantity of drugs.

In a follow-up search at a house, two men were arrested, one in his late 20s, the other in his early 30s.

They are currently being detained at Ballymote under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Local residents have told Ocean FM News that Gardai also searched the garden of house in Cranmore.

Gardai are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with informaton to come forward.

Under Section 30, the men may be detained for twenty-four hours from the time of arrest; however, this may be extended for a further 24-hour period.
