Gardai have arrested two men following what’s believed to have been an attempted armed robbery at a pharmacy in Sligo town earlier today.
The incident occurred about 11am at the pharmacy on Cranmore Road when a man entered, armed with what’s believed to have been a firearm.
He threatened staff before escaping with a quantity of drugs.
In a follow-up search at a nearby house, two men were arrested, one in his late 20s, the other in his early 30s.
They are currently being detained at Ballymote Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
