Tributes to Donegal GAA coach, the late Pat Shovelin

Donegal GAA is in mourning this week following the death of their county goalkeeping coach Pat Shovelin.

Aged 41, he had been battling against a rare but aggressive form of cancer for the past year.

The Ardara man first came to prominence under Jim McGuinness’s tenure with Donegal seniors and U-21s, where he played a major part in their provincial and All-Ireland success.

Despite his illness, Pat remained part of the U-21 set-up under Declan Bonner, going on to achieve Ulster provincial success.

Donegal County Board Chaiman Sean Dunnion says Pat’s death is a major loss.
