Pramerica expands and shows the potential that exists for NW investment

Pramerica says its new multi-million euro campus in Letterkenny is a perfect opportunity for this multi-national company to grow in Donegal.

The new €42m facilities opened in July but the official opening took place on Friday.

The company which is a subsidiary of Prudential Financial in the US has been based in Letterkenny for the last 17 years.

It was recently used as an example in the Dail by the Tanaiste Frances Fitzgerald when defending the government’s efforts to attract more Foreign Direct Investment to the North West.

She told FF TD Charlie McConalogue in the Dail that site visits don’t create jobs but that the multi-nationals already here prove to be the ones expanding and creating jobs:

While the new campus is not creating any new jobs, Vice President of Technology and Facilities at Pramerica Gerard Grant says it does give them the opportunity to expand and confirms its committment to the North West region:

However just last week, speaking to Ocean FM News in Sligo, former Tanaiste ray MacSharry said the government can do alot more to attract more of companies like Abbott and Pramerica to regions like the North West. He says their success is evident but more of these companies are key to balancing economic development in Ireland.

Here’s the audio of Ray MacSharry speaking to Ocean FM News in Sligo on Thursday:
