Information evening for volunteers to play with children in hospital

An information evening for people interested in volunteering to play with sick children in Sligo University Hospital will take place this Thursday at 6pm.

It had originally been planned for October 16th but had to be postpoined because of Storm Ophelia.

The volunteers are organised by the charity Children in Hospital Ireland, which was founded in 1970.

One of its key areas is recruiting ‘play volunteers’ who will go to hospitals for two and a half hours a week and bring a smile to the faces of sick children by playing with them.

People wishing to volunteer are asked NOT to contact the hospital but to contact CHI where they will get all details, including the venue for this Thursday evening’s meeting, as Marketing Manager Maura Lavelle tells Ocean FM News:
