Farmers urged to use Regional Veterinary Lab to secure future



Farmers are urged to use the Regional Veterinary Lab in Dunally in order to secure its future.

That was the message from the Civic Reception for the Lab hosted by the cathaoirleach of Sligo Co Co last night.

The head of the Animal Health Committee with the IFA in Sligo Seamus Cummins says the outcome of a report on the future of the Lab won’t be known until next year – it remains under review pending a final report due out next March.

Staff of the Lab including the Senior Research Officer Ger Murray attended the event.

Guest speaker former Commissioner Ray MacSharry spoke of the importance of the lab for the region since it opened in 1967 and the importance of minimising any outbreaks or threats to animal health.
