Scale of damage minimal but over 300 still without power in the NW



The ESB says that over 300 homes remain without power in the North West area today.

While Sligo, Leitrim and Donegal escaped the brunt of yesterday’s storm, Councils, the ESB and the emergency services were still busy on the ground responding to incidents.

Fifty two homes remain without power on the Leitrim Roscommon border around Arigna while around ninety homes are without power in the Mohill and Leitrim Village areas.

The ESB is now reporting that its working to restore power to seventy properties in the Bundoran area while a further sixty-five are without power further north in county Donegal in the Derrybeg and Moville areas.

While forty-two homes remain without power in the south and east Sligo area including the Geevagh and Riverstown area as well as around Collooney.

Director of Services at Sligo County Council, Tom Kilfeather says that they responded to around 20 incidents from just after lunchtime yesterday into the early hours of this morning.

He says there will be further work over the coming days but the Councils expect to be reimbursed for costs incurred as a result of yesterday’s event:
