Public meeting about conserving Sligo’s Green Fort to be held soon



Now is the time to have your say on the future of Sligo’s Green Fort.

The fort is the last visible remains of the 17th century defences of Sligo town and is located at the top of Forthill in O’Boyle Park.

Over many years the local community has canvassed the Council to develop the site and protect.

Sligo County Council along with the Green Fort Technical Group and other local heritage groups has prepared a draft Conservation Plan for the structure which remains on public display.

A public meeting is also taking place in the Northside on Thursday next (19th of October) and heritage officer Siobhan Ryan in encouraging people to attend and have their say.
