Met Eireann monitors progress of ex-Hurricane in its path towards Ireland



Met Eireann is tracking the progress of Hurricane Ophelia closely.

The storm which will be an ex-hurricane by the time it is expected to hit Irish shores on Monday afternoon is currently west of the Canary Islands and south of the Azores.

A weather warning is in place for the whole weekend for heavy rain, wind and generally stormy weather as a result of the approaching storm.

People are urged to be aware of the approaching weather system when travelling over the weekend.
