Dail debate: TD claims no new investors are being attracted to Donegal



A Donegal TD has hit out at what he says is the lack of new investment by businesses in the county.

Fianna Fail Deputy Charlie McConalogue says it’s a particular concern because of the uncertainties for the future in the county as a result of Brexit.

Speaking in the Dail, Deputy McConalogue asked the Tanaiste and Minister for Enterprise and Innovation Frances Fitzgerald about engagements she had with Enterprise Ireland and the IDA to secure new investment in County Donegal.

Deputy McConologue hit out at the Minister saying the government’s so-called ‘Policy for Regional Development’ is failing:

However, Minister Fitzgerald has defended the government’s record on regional development saying there has been a 37% increase in IDA employees since 2012.

She says a site visit does not mean that a company is going to invest and most investment comes from the companies who are already here:
