HSE launches headlice awareness campaign

The HSE has launched a campaign in the north west to raise awareness about the spread of head lice.

It spreads easily among children as they often hold their heads close together.

And after their return to school following the summer holidays, more are likely to become infected.

The HSE’s campaign in Sligo, Donegal, Leitrim, Cavan and Monaghan is to give parents, schools, GPs, pharmacies and others information on how to prevent the spread of head lice.

Further information may be obtained by logging onto the HSE’s web site.

Dr Ide Nic Dhonncha, community medical officer with the HSE, points out the one most important detection and prevention method.
