Concern that €100,000 worth of drugs was being stored in local area

A Sligo councillor says it’s a matter of concern that €100,000 worth of drugs were being stored in the Ballisodare area.

Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy says it’s particularly serious because of the presence of a number of schools in the locality.

The drugs were found in a package by a man who was walking his dog at Glenwood, out the Coolaney Road from Ballisodare, toward the Hungry Rock.

Gardai have confirmed it contained ecstasy powder and tablets.

Anyone with information or who was in the locality around Oct. 3rd is asked to contact the gardai at Sligo station.

Cllr Healy says it was fortunate the package was not found by children.
