Sharp increase in people waiting on trolleys



In the north west today, there has been a sharp increase in the number of people on hospital trolleys waiting for a bed.

It’s 56, compared to 30 yesterday.

Thirty-five of today’s patients on trolleys are in Letterkenny University Hospital with 21 in Sligo University Hospital.

Yesterday, the figures were 18 for Letterkenny and 12 for Sligo.

Forty-six people are on trolleys in University Hospital Galway.

Overall throughout the country, there are 482 patients on trolleys.
