A north Leitrim school is one of many under pressure due to what the INTO says is a flawed new pilot programme to provide supports for children with special needs.

Under the new rules, schools can apply for a certain number of resource hours using Special Needs Assistants.

However, they have to apply by February and often by June the number of students that require assistance in the classroom can be much more than what the school applied for.

Ocean FM News understands a primary school in north Leitrim is just one of those who can’t get enough support for its demand in the coming year.
