Valley Rovers 0

Danny Carroll’s double fired Boyle Celtic U-12s to a hard fought victory vs Valley Rovers on Saturday last at Celtic Park, Boyle.

Both defences gave little away in terms of opportunities but it was Celtic’s greater innovation and patience which proved to be a key factor.

Early in the opening half, right back Cathal McKeon who was defending strongly throughout, found Carroll who for the first time of many went on a mazy run. He reached the edge the box, fizzed the ball across the goal mouth which resulted in an own goal.

The midfield battle was intensifying as Valley pressed for an equaliser. However, Boyle Celtic Goalkeeper Shane O’Dowd was in inspired form and was found hard to beat. O’Dowd pulled off several great saves to keep the score 0-1 to Celtic at the break.

The second half was only five minutes old when Celtic scored their second. Centre back Cormac Regan cleared a searching Valley ball. The ball once again found Danny Carroll whose run culminated in an easy finish.

Boyle’s third followed not long after. This time, Shay Noone and Aaron Healy combined, with the latter providing the assist for Carroll who scored his second and Celtic’s third to seal the victory.
