Bishop to open exhibition of icons in Sligo

An exhibition of religious icons opens in Sligo today (Tue).

Running until Sept. 26th, the exhibition will showcase the works of The Association of Iconographers, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
Iconography is a category in art history which studies the meaning behind works of art. Techniques are also studied which are then applied to modern examples.
The Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Elphin, Kevin Doran, will open the exhibition today, Tuesday, at 6pm in the Hyde Bridge Gallery in the Yeats Memorial Building, Sligo.
