Shortage of priests one of a number of challenges facing new Bishop of Raphoe



A parish priest in Bruckless says the shortage of priests and attracting more people back to the Church remain the key challenges in the Diocese of Raphoe.

All of the parish priests and curates were called to a ‘Meet and Greet’ session with the new Catholic Bishop of the diocese Fr. Alan McGuckian this week.

The Bishop is the first Jesuit Bishop in Ireland and was appointed by Pope Francis in June and was ordained last month.

Fr. James Sweeney the parish priest in Bruckless in county Donegal says he brings a great energy and vision to the diocese at a time of great change.
