In Donegal, farmers left with no income after flooding



The vice-chair of the Irish farmers Association in Donegal says some farmers face at least 8 weeks of no income at all following on from last weeks flooding.

Brendan McLaughlin says that the impact and scale of the disaster is really only starting to hit people now.

He joined the IFA President Joe Healy on a trip around farmland on the Inishowen peninsula on Friday.

He says people are devastated and at least 50 farms have been badly affected.

He says huge amounts of money are needed to help dry out the land but most farmers face at least 8 weeks of no income on top of the losses they have incurred from lost livestock to damage to land and farm equipment and buildings.
