Under 14 Girls

The under 14 girls played out a pulsating draw with St. Nathy’s in Bunannaddan last Monday. Trailing by four points with just two minutes remaining, the girls managed to level the tie with a late goal from Cliodhna O’ Sullivan and a point from Amy Hampson with the last kick of the game. It was a game that could have gone either way, with our girls building up a nice lead in the first half thanks to three points from Cliodhna O’ Sullivan, two from Shona Dalton and one from Amy Deering, only to concede two quick goals just before the break to leave the score tied at 0-06 to 2-00. The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, the Coolera-Strandhill girls adding points, only to have their lead wiped out through the concession of goals, despite some heroics from goalkeeper Nessa O’ Sullivan. As the game approached the final ten minutes the home side went ahead for the first time, but Shona Dalton drilled the ball to the net to level the match again. A penalty and a point from St. Nathy’s put four points between the teams. It is testament to the determination of the Coolera girls that they managed to snatch a draw with their late scores to leave the final score 2-10 to 5-01. Cliodhna O’ Sullivan, Cliodhna Davitt and Shona Dalton were excellent throughout, as were Aoife Gormley, Nessa O’ Sullivan and Amy Hampson. Next up is an away match against Geevagh on Sept. 4th. Team; Nessa O’ Sullivan, Grace Molloy, Ciara Lindsay, Cliodhna Davitt, Amy Hampson (0-01), Holly Gilligan, Cliodhna O’ Sullivan (1-04), Shona Dalton (1-03), Luna Simeoni, Amy Deering (0-02), Anna Callaghan, Aoife Gormley, Enya Hughes, Clodagh Martyn, Emma O’ Loughlin.
