Publicly-funding third level tops agenda for Sligo students meeting government Minister



Students at IT Sligo are calling on the Higher Education Minister to introduce publicly-funded third level education in Ireland.

Minister Mary Mitchell O’Connor will meet with the Students Union President Barry Cloghessy later on her visit to the IT.

She’s attending private meetings with senior managment at the college and was greeted by the President of the IT Brendan McCormack at the Innovation Centre this morning.

It’s understood the plans to develop the ITs into a technological university will be just one of a number of topics that will be discussed today.

Barry Cloghessy will have the opportunity to meet the Minister later and he told Ocean FM News today that the USI’s ongoing calls for publicly-funded third level education will be top of the agenda:
