Armed Garda patrols continue at Sligo University Hospital

Gardai continue to maintain armed patrols at Sligo University Hospital where two men are being treated following a horrific stabbing incident in Sligo Town last weekend.

Although gardai officially declined to confirm the presence of the armed gardai at the hospital, citing operational reasons, sources have confirmed to Ocean FM News that the patrols are in place.

It’s understood the patrols are because of fear of reprisals as well as for the protection for members of the public in the area.

The 42-year old victim of the stabbing and his alleged attacker are both being treated for their injuries in the hospital.

It’s believed the stabbing is related to an ongoing fued.

Gardai are monitoring visitors to the two men in hospital, who are expected to be questioned when they are discharged.

A 40-year old woman, who also sustained stab wounds in the incident that occurred at Crozon Park during the early hours of Sunday morning, was treated at the hospital and later discharged.
