International call-up for Rovers’ Jamie McDonagh

Sligo Rovers’ Jamie McDonagh has been called up to the Northern Ireland U21 squad to play World Cup qualifiers with Albania and Slovakia in the coming weeks.

Former Rovers manager Ian Baraclough is the manager of the Northern Irish U21 squad and he has called up the winger for the games against Albania in Lurgan on 31 August and the trip to Senica on 5 September.

It’s McDonagh’s first call-up since winning a first cap against Ukraine in 2015.

It means he will not feature in Rovers’next game – the Irn Bru Scottish Challenge Cup game against Falkirk – but he will return for the next league game against Finn Harps on September 16.
