Roads and bridges closed after flooding



Motorists throughout the region are urged to drive with caution because of flooding on some roads after the recent heavy rain.

In Donegal, there’s a number of road and bridge closures, with some bridges having collapsed

The Muff/Quigley’s Point Rd (R238) and the Carndonagh/Quigley’s Point Road are both closed because of bridge collapses.

Mountain Road (R244) between Buncrana and Carndonagh is also closed after a bridge collapsed.

Gardai say that traffic from Carndonagh will have to travel via Cloontagh and Buncrana. However, this road is not suitable for heavy goods vehicles.

Grainne’s Gap is closed following mud slides.

The Clonmany/North Pole Road (R238) is closed after a bridge collapsed.

Cockhill Bridge in Buncrana is closed with local diversions

In Sligo, the R287 is closed at Dooney Rock because of flooding.

There’s also flooding on the R284 on the Sligo side of Geevagh, in east Sligo.
