Flood Relief Minister to visit Donegal today



The Minister with responsibility for flood relief, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, is to visit north Donegal today to see the damage to roads and bridges caused overnight by flooding.

Donegal Minister Joe McHugh says it’s important that an initial assessment of the damage is carried out.

A number of bridges have collapsed, including on the Muff/Quigley’s Point Rd and the Carndonagh/Quigley’s Point Rd.

Mountain Rd between Buncrana and Carndonagh and the Clonmany/North Pole Roads are also closed after a bridges collapsed.

Speaking to Ocean FM News this morning, Minister McHugh said there had been devastation caused in some areas:

There was flash flooding in other parts of the North West overnight and the Dromahair road at Carraroe was closed for a time but has since reopened.

Sligo County Council says it’s not dealing with any major incidents.

Ocean FM News is awaiting a statement from Donegal County Council on the emergency plan in place there for the scale of damage caused in the north of the county.
