Bus Eireann has made seats available to five families in Collooney who were at risk of having no way for their children to get to school.
The situation affected at least five families with concessionary bus tickets to Coola Post-primary school.
Sinn Fein Councillor Thomas Healy has welcomed the move but says the public school bus system remains fundamentally flawed.
He says while the problem has been resolved for this year, the same issues will crop up again next year unless the system is changed:
