TD hits out at ‘redtape’ involved in taxing commercial vans



For many small businesses thorughout the region, their van is their means of transport and delivery, their office, the lifeline to their customers and clients.

But in some cases, the simple task of registering and taxing a van with the local council is a nightmare.

In response to the number of complaints, Independent TD Michael Fitzmaurice has hit out at what he says is the amont of ‘red tape’ involved in form-filling when it comes to taxing a van.

He says people must prove they are in business and that they are self-employed.

And he claims that if that person changes their van after a few months, they have to go through the whole process again.

He says people in business, trades people, farmers and others are becoming frustrated and angry over the situation:
