Body of missing hiker found; search for missing diver continues

The body of a man missing in the Derryveagh Mountains in county Donegal was found yesterday evening.

The Rescue 118 helicopter reported the discovery to Gardai just after half past six yesterday evening.

The 63 year old hiker understood to be from England but living in Dungloe was missing since Thursday.

The man’s body has been removed to Letterkenny University Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out.

Meanwhile, the Coastguard has confirmed that the search for a missing diver off the north coast of Donegal continues today.

The group had been diving off the north coast off Malin Head when the diver was reported missing at about 4pm on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, the Coastguard rescue 118 helicopter was also involved in the rescue of a couple on Lough Ree over the weekend as well.

The Lough Ree RNLI and the helicopter managed to bring the couple to safety after it’s understood they lost their way while cruising on the lake.
