Clarification sought on towing rules for farmers



A Leitrim councillor says he’s seeking clarification from the TDs in the region on what can be done to minimise the impact of new towing regulations on farmers.

Fianna Fail Cllr Ciallain Ellis says some of the new regulations regarding the use of agricultural vehicles on the public roads could be a major problem for farmers and will increase costs.

Ciallain Ellis says there is a tonne restriction that is forcing farmers to make more than one journey with their animals.

He says it’s something that he would like local TDs to bring to national attention when the Dail returns next month.
