Castle Dargan Golf Club Notes



Captains Day
On Sunday last our club captain Mr Ray o Grady hosted his 2017 Captains Day. With the weather forecast set to be wet and wild it turned out to be quite the opposite, staying dry for most of the starters and for the nine hole playoff. After the first eighteen, top of the pile was Brian Henry with a net 73 with 2 men one shot back, Fergal McLoughlin and Kevin McCarthy.  Two back was Aiden McGoldrick and one further back was james Fallon, Eoin  Carroll and Niall Walsh. In the playoff first out to try and catch the front runners was Benny Connolly, Eoin Carroll and Dave Donavan followed by Mark Reilly, Niall McLoughlin and Eugene Carroll. Next out was James Fallon, Aiden McGoldrick and Brian Watters with Niall Walsh, Paul McGonigle and Benny Deignan next out. Last 3 ball was the front runners of Brian Henry, Fergal McLoughlin and Kevin McCarthy. After the 9 playoff holes the man coming out on top was James Fallon with a great playoff score of 3 over gross. Second was Eoin Carroll. Third was Kevin McCarthy. Fourth was Brian Henry and fifth was Niall Walsh. Winner of the ladies was Pauline Lennon. Second was Bridie Henry and third was Ann Mullen. Winner of the junior prize was Darragh Connolly and senior prize was John Higgins. Guest prize winner was Terry Duffy. In his speech Captain Ray thanked everyone who made his Captains Day so enjoyable and thanked everyone who took part in the golf. Ray also thanks his wife Leona and daughter Sadhbh for all their support in his captains year. Ray also thanked all at Castledargan resort for their help in 2017. To finish all enjoyed a great night of music and crack into the small hours.
Club competitions
Winners of the competition on Sunday 30th July sponsored by Clifford Electrical was Ray o Grady with a score of 40pts. Second was Tony Wasyalocha and third was Kevin McCarthy. Next week the ladies club have their fundraiser. It’s on the Saturday and the Sunday and it’s a 3ball scramble and it’s open.
