Calls for traffic to be slowed down at entrance to Manorhamilton estate

A Manorhamilton-based councillor is looking for measures to slow down N16 traffic coming from the direction of Enniskillen to make it safer for people entering and leaving the Millhill Lawns estate in the town.

Independent Councillor Felim Gurn says this is needed particularly on days when the mart takes place in Manorhamilton.

However, Leitrim County Council’s senior engineer for roads, Shay O’Connnor, told councillors at a Manorhamilton Municipal District meeting that there was no history of traffic accidents at the location.

He also said Transport Infrastructure Ireland had provided no funding for a traffic scheme at the location.

However, he said the council would monitor the area and consult with the Gardai, which is necessary before any application can be made for funding.
