Farmers urged to attend safety stand at Bonniconlon Show



The victim of a road traffic accident in Sligo is urging people and especially farmers to be aware of their safety at this time of the year.

Pat Carthy from Tubbercurry has been in a wheelchair for twenty-nine years as a result of a car crash he says resulted from fatigue from working on the farm.

He still works on the farm and has another job as well – something he says many farmers now have to do.

He’s encouraging people to attend a farm safety stand which is being run by the IFA at the Bonniconlon Agricultural Show on Bank Holiday Monday.

Speaking to Ocean FM today, Pat Carthy says that many accidents result from long hours of work and people should look out for the small obstacles as well:
