North Sligo Athletic Club have announced that Olympian Thomas Barr will be the special guest at the club’s 40th anniversary celebration dinner dance in October.
The Waterford native was Ireland’s standout athlete at last year’s Rio Olympics, breaking the Irish 400 metres hurdles record time in the heats and again in the final, finishing just one place outside of the medals.
The celebration event will take place on Friday, October 6, in the Radisson hotel in Ballincar, with tickets for the event now on sale.
Mary Cullen and Christopher O’Donnell are among the high profile athletes to come through the ranks at North Sligo AC in recent years.
