Moorhouse on the mark as Rovers target more goals



Greg Moorhouse was on the scoresheet in his first appearance in a Sligo Rovers jersey last night.

The newly-signed striker featured for the Bit O’ Red in a friendly against Gavin Dykes’s Ballinamallard United at the Showgrounds.

Moorhouse beat former Rovers keeper Richard Brush for a second half opener, while youngster Darren Collins netted a late second in a 2-0 win.

Vinny Faherty and Jamie McDonagh also made their first appearances for Rovers in last night’s game, while Seamus Sharkey returned to captain the team alongside John Mahon at centre-back, having missed the draw with Dundalk last weekend.

Meanwhile, Rovers striker Benny Igiehon says he is targeting more goals having got off the mark in the Dundalk game last weekend.

Rovers face St Patrick’s Athletic in a crunch relegation six-pointer on Saturday at the Showgrounds, and with Rovers the second lowest scoring team in the league, Igiehon says the squad is determined to improve their attacking threat…
